We are honored to welcome Professor I Lo-fen as the keynote speaker for our upcoming conference. I Lo-fen holds a Ph.D. in Chinese Literature from National Taiwan University (台灣大學). She is currently an Associate Professor (with tenure) at the Division of Chinese, Nanyang Technological University (南洋理工大學), Singapore. She previously served as Head of the Division of Chinese at NTU.
Professor I is a columnist for Singapore’s Lianhe Zaobao (《聯合早報》) newspaper and the Founder and Honorary President of the Text and Image Studies Society (文圖學會), a registered association in Singapore. She currently serves as President of this society. She is also a Board Member of the China Su Shi Studies Society (中國蘇軾學會) and an International Academic Advisory Committee member of the Research Institute of Three Su (Su Xun, Su Shi, Su Zhe) Studies (三蘇文化研究院) at Sichuan Normal University (四川師範大學). Additionally, she serves as an International Board Member of the Academic Association of Global Cultural Contents in South Korea (韓國全球文化內容學會) and as an Advisory Committee member of the Centre for Chinese Studies at Singapore University of Social Sciences. Her previous appointments include positions at National Taiwan University (台灣大學), Fu Jen Catholic University (輔仁大學), and as an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Chinese Literature and Philosophy (中國文哲研究所) at Academia Sinica (中央研究院). She has been invited as a Designated Professor at Osaka University (Japan), and as an Invited Co-teaching Associate Professor at the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, Stanford University (USA). She also served as a Visiting Professor at The East Asian Institute, Sungkyunkwan University (成均館大學, Korea), and has delivered lectures at numerous prestigious universities.
Professor I served as an overseas narrator for the major cultural documentary “Su Dongpo” (《蘇東坡》) produced by China Central Television (中央電視台). She has planned and directed multiple large-scale international collaborative projects and hosts the podcast “You Ci Yi Shuo” (「有此衣說」) and programs on YouTube and Bilibili. Her literary works have won the National Taiwan University New Poetry Award (台灣大學新詩獎), while her academic research has been recognized with the Academia Sinica Research Award for Junior Research Investigators (中央研究院年輕學者研究著作獎), the Excellent Research Award of Wu Da-You Foundation, National Science Council (國科會吳大猷先生學術成就獎), and publication grants from the National Arts Council of Singapore (新加坡國家藝術理事會出版獎助). Her teaching excellence has been acknowledged with the Nanyang Technological University Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Award (南洋理工大學許文輝學術獎) and the John Cheung Social Media Award.
Professor I’s research focuses on Text and Image Studies (文圖學), Chinese Poetry and Visual Art, Su Shi (Su Dongpo) Studies (三蘇研究), Interaction of East Asian Culture and Literature, Singapore Studies (新加坡文史藝術), and Asian Visual Culture and Aesthetics. She has published 15 academic monographs, edited and co-edited 12 volumes, and authored over 160 journal articles and book chapters. Additionally, she has published 19 books of fiction and essays. Her works have repeatedly been selected for Su Dongpo themed book lists and Lianhe Zaobao’s annual best books lists.
